ALHAMBRA STREET

Sitting here looking back I almost gave my old man a heart attack
When I moved into this apartment shack on Alhambra street
We used to sit there Aric and me by the railing   overlooking the sea
Talking about dreams, women , whiskey, & weed on Alhambra street

CHORUS
Won’t you take me won’t you take me down
Won’t you take me won’t you take me down

It was the fall of 1995 we were young and so full of life
We took our limits to the sky on Alhambra street
There were good times there were bad
Broken glass and broken heads and love came and went
Like passing ships through   the night on Alhambra street

CHORUS

Friday nights were so full of life you  couldn’t stand to hear the fights
How that anger builds up in a young man inside on alhambra street

CHORUS

Sitting here looking back I almost gave my old man a heart attack
When I moved into this apartment shack on alhambra street

SOMETIMES

Sometimes I think that I  drink too much
Sometimes my friends call me a lush
Sometimes I feel like a rolling stone
Sometimes I am  an old bag of bones

CHORUS
Sometimes I fell like walking on fire
Sometimes I have a burning desire to be free

Sometimes I go out for walks on my own
Sometimes I fear the unknown
Sometimes I like to wish upon a shooting star
Sometimes I take a drive in my car

SOLO

CHORUS

Sometimes I listen sounds on the radio
Sometimes I watch life pass me by through a window
Sometimes you loose Sometimes you win
Sometimes you have to repent for all your sins

CHORUS

DARK SIDE OF THE ROAD

Running away from what I don't know
Keeping me from the dark side of the road
Your loves like a flower in the springtime my dear
Keeping me from the dark side of the road
Lay me down in a field where the bluebonnets bloom
Keeping me from the dark side of the road
In my times of weakness you stood by my side
Keeping me from the dark side of the road

CHORUS
Lights in the distance and trouble lay behind
The road to nowhere begins to unwind
Once I was blind and now I see
What all your love has meant to me, what all your love has meant to me

SOLO

Troubled from  the beginning and troubled from the start
Keeping me from the dark side of the road
You stand like an angel underneath a bed of stars
Keeping me from the dark side of the road
Follow me back to the cabin where the muddy river flows
Keeping me from the dark side of the road
You are the sun you just fill me with warmth
Keeping me from the dark side of the road

CHORUS

GOING TO CALIFORNIA

I’m going to California
Going  to leave my troubles behind
Somewhere there’s a place where the sun is shining
Somewhere out west there’s blue sky

CHORUS

Run away, get me out of here
Run away, leave her standin in the shadows
Run away, I’m headed west of here
Run away, I’m going to california

Leaving this town in North Carolina
Missing her as I cross the stateline
Someone in Tennesse is calling me
Somewhere out west there’s stars in the sky

CHORUS
I’m going to california 3X

SILVER & GOLD

In the evening She calls me at my house
Just to see if I am still here
She asks me to come by  her house
Forgets to leave the lights on there

She once told me that “you are the one”
As we stood atop a Tahoe hillside
I remember the day she left
And the fire between us had died

CHORUS
Walking down these lonely streets
As the sea shimmers of silver and gold
Playing on my grey guitar
As the wind passes over the town
As the wind passes over the town

I have crossed the London Bridge at night
Almost fell into the Thames
Seen the grave of the late Oscar Wilde
And  the hillls of a  green  Irish land

Walking through the streets of Rome
Lead by a flickering  candle light
Seen the David and the Mona Lisa too
Nothing will compare to you

CHORUS

I don’t want to die alone
Will stay with me by my side
When the mountains melt into the sea
And the roads of our love divide

Walk with me down the boulvard
Down into the town
We’ll drink wine and throw stones at the sea
And pretend that we can’t drown

CHORUS

SWEET MARIE

Goodnight my sweet marie
Hold on as long as you can 2X

Light a candle and watch it burn
Look at you and say  my prayers 2X

Goodnight Goodnight

You love is shining bright
You are the love of my life
You are the love of my life

STANDING ALONE  IN THE COLD

Monday comes around so quickly
The week ends the week begins
It Just Seems like yesterday I was back in Austin
Back in a fading memory

I remember that morning so well
There was a red sky above me
City light’s faded into the distance
So did the smile on her face

CHORUS

I left her standing alone in the cold
Standing on uneven ground
Waiting for answers to unanswered questions
Hoping that he comes back someday

SOLO

CHORUS

Hoping that he comes back someday

LAST TRAIN TO DENVER

Where were you the night the music died?
Everyone was asking about you..
I went out into the street and called out your name
But you were nowhere you were nowhere to be found

You’re headed back to your home
High about all the rest
Protected from the trash and the losers from your  past
who live so close, who live so close to the sea

CHORUS
Last train to Denver
Last time I thought I saw your face
You left me standing in the water of disgrace

I remember   times when you talked of higher places
Being in touch with greater voices than your own
These  friends of yours don’t care about the colors of your hair
If they did then where are they now?

CHORUS

You bought a ticket on a midnight train
Traveling through   the rain and snow
Never forget about the time we spent together
As that   one-way train take you home

CHORUS
